Benin’s employment index improved in the first three months of 2019, according to the quarterly business survey published on Thursday by the General Directorate of Economic Affairs, explaining that employment in large companies grew by 7 percent compared with the same period last year.
The survey indicated that several branches explain and drive this increase in the overall employment index in Benin, including the jobs offered by the manufacturing activities branch, which were estimated at 23.6 percent.
Also involved is the Building and Public Works (BTP) sector, which contributed 41.3 percent to the increase; and finally the electricity production and distribution sector, which contributed to the surge in the employment index with 12.98 percent.
This increase in the employment index can be attributed to the political strategy generated by the Government Action Programme.
