The legislative elections held last Sunday in Benin had a turnout rate of 27.12 percent for a total estimated 4,992,399 registered voters, announced the Constitutional Court, which also confirmed the victory of the Progressive Union with 47 seats out of 83 seats at stake.
As previously announced by the National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA), the Republican Bloc, the other candidate for election, came second with 36 seats.
These two parties of the presidential movement were the only ones to take part in the elections which, according to the Constitutional Court, giving its results on Thursday evening, registered only 1353,955 voters.
The final proclamation of the results will take place in a few days, after the settlement of the likely electoral disputes.
