Guinea-Bissau, through its Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Communities, Carlos Pinto Pereira on Friday reaffirmed the country’s support for Morocco’s territorial sovereignty over the Western Sahara.
“Guinea-Bissau recognises the sovereignty of the kingdom over all its territory and is committed to doing everything possible to ensure that this reality is recognised internationally,” Mr. Pereira stressed in a statement to the press following talks with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.
“Our positions are close and similar in several areas at the international level, especially on the issue of the territorial integrity of the kingdom,” he said.
He noted that Morocco and Guinea-Bissau are bound by true friendship, calling for the further strengthening of ties that unite the two countries at the bilateral and multilateral levels through the African Union and the United Nations.
The Bissauguinea diplomatic chief also said that his country wished to consolidate cooperation with the kingdom in several sectors, particularly education, vocational training, tourism, fisheries and industry.
