The two media bodies said the exchanges have seen some suspected political party activists raiding the offices of Business & Weekly Review newspaper in Gaborone where they destroyed telephones and computers.
“To that effect as media organisations, BEF and BOMAWU are naturally concerned by attacks on the editor of the Business & Weekly Review Mr. Tshireletso Motlogelwa that led to him running away into a toilet at a public place as a way of assuring his safety and also for fear of possible violent clashes against himself,” reads the statement.
BEF and BOMAWU said they would be actively engaging with various political parties to come up to with a clear framework on the responsibilities and obligations of each side as we move towards the 2019 General Elections and beyond.
The statement by the two media houses followed an incident in which Elliot Moshoke allegedly vandalised Business & Weekly Review equipment.
This was after the paper ran a story about opposition leader Duma Boko who is said to be driving a car that allegedly belongs to South African businessmen with a shady past.
Moshoke is Boko’s body guard cum business associate.
