In a statement, Masisi the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, said the impressive level of professionalism displayed by the officers during his tour of the establishment was absolutely phenomenal.
“I have been received cordially, warmly, professionally and more than anything, I was humbled by the confidence, competence and readiness of the men and women who guided my tour. It gives me confidence that they are upright and alert, they exhibit the agility and readiness to be deployed,” he said.
However, he assured the troops that the nation would not purposely put them in harm’s way by deploying them in exceptionally volatile conflict zones.
“Since the base is home to a Southern African Development Community (SADC) standby contingent, I would consider sending troops on peacekeeping missions in the region,” said Masisi.
He said the purpose of his countrywide tour was to familiarise himself with all aspects of army operations as well as staff conditions of service.
