Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services Kefentse Mzwinila told Parliament that in collaboration with other stakeholders his ministry is continuing with the reaffirmation of international boundaries with neighbouring countries namely Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
“To date the Boundary Treaty between Botswana and Namibia has been signed and the exchange of ratification instruments for the treaty is expected to be concluded by March 2019,” said Mzwinila.
He said the land base boundary with Zimbabwe covering a distance of 534km from Tuli Circle to Kazungula Ferry in north eastern Botswana has been reaffirmed.
“However, we are working with our neighbours to confirm the terminal point, which is a boundary between Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe,” said Mzwinila.
With regards to the Botswana – South Africa boundary, he said the maintenance of boundary fence and the opening of the patrol routes is work in progress.
