The government of Botswana has nominated Ambassador Legwaila Joseph Legwaila and Tymon Motlhasedi Katlholo, to be part of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Electoral Observation Mission to Mozambique’s general elections scheduled for 15th October, 2019.
Ambassador Legwaila is the leader of the Botswana delegation.
He has previously served in many capacities, including as Botswana’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, USA.
Katlholo, is the former Director of the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC).
According to government spokesperson, John-Thomas Dipowe the delegation leaves for Maputo on Thursday 3rd October, 2019 and is expected back in Botswana on 18th October, 2019.
On August 6, Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi and leader of the rebel group turned opposition party Renamo, Ossufo Momade, signed a peace deal that ended the most recent flare-up in an intermittent civil conflict dating back four decades.
