The opposition Botswana National Front ((BNF) on Wednesday sent a congratulatory message to South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) for retaining power in the just-ended general elections.
In a statement, BNF secretary general Moeti Mohwasa said his party was hopeful that the ANC would use its fresh mandate to build on the work it has done for South Africa since the country’s independence in 1994.
“We have no doubt that the ANC will take South Africa to another level and ensure that the fruits of the liberation struggle are fully realised by all,” Mohwasa said.
He noted that the struggle for South Africa’s independence “was a challenging one where huge sacrifices were made by those within and without South Africa.”
“As BNF we take pride in having been part of the liberation of South Africa and others. We have no doubt that the sacrifices and the blood spilled will water the dream of the people of South Africa who are yearning for a better life for all,” he said.
