Botswana is set to host a gathering of African leaders, business executives, academics, young researchers and experts this week for the highly anticipated 2024 African Economic Conference (AEC).
Co-hosted by the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the United Nations Development Programme, this flagship event is slated to take place from November 23-25.
With the overarching theme “Securing Africa’s Economic Future Amidst Rising Uncertainty,” the conference aims to provide a crucial platform for African nations to confront immediate economic challenges and bolster their resilience against mounting global pressures.
According to organisers, the 2024 AEC will focus on the impact of uncertainty on Africa’s development; mechanisms for improving resilience through African-led solutions; innovative financing in uncertain times; and how to leverage technology for predictive strategies on the continent.
The conference will explore how innovation and youth-driven initiatives can enhance resilience across diverse sectors and will also feature a competition recognizing outstanding research by young people.
