During his first international trip as Head of State, Duma Boko, the president of Botswana , participated in a business forum organized by the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre in Belgium.
At the forum, President Boko outlined his economic agenda. “We aspire to a Botswana that goes beyond its leadership in the diamond industry to become a powerhouse of trade and investment in Africa and beyond,” he said.
A major focus of his vision is economic diversification. He particularly highlighted the potential of the industrial hemp industry, which he sees as an opportunity to generate jobs, boost national revenues and increase exports.
The president also announced other priorities, such as accelerating investments in renewable energy, modernizing infrastructure and consolidating political stability, in order to meet the expectations of the voters who brought him to power.
Keen to attract foreign capital, he sent a message to international investors by emphasising Botswana’s favourable business climate. “The positive experiences shared by investors encourage me to continue this
momentum,” he said.
With his newly acquired mandate, Duma Gideon Boko aims to position Botswana as a regional leader in innovation, economic sustainability and inclusive development.
