The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, led party supporters to protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja.
The protest is against the declaration on March 1, 2023, of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Chief Bola Tinubu, as the winner of the February 25, presidential poll.
Local media reports said that the National Chairman of the PDP, Prof. Iyorchia Ayu; the Vice Presidential Candidate of the party and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State were among other leaders of the party who joined in the protest.
The reports added that the protesters later blocked the entrance of INEC headquarters as the security personnel at the Commission locked the Commission’s gate.
Atiku, a former Vice President of Nigeria, had earlier rejected the result of the presidential election and stated that he won the election and that his party would go to court to reclaim its mandate.
