The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday defeated the Angolan national team 1-0 to qualify for the semi-finals of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
The match played at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan saw the Super Eagles take the lead in the 41st minute of the game when Ademola Lookman collected a through pass from Moses Simon and beat the Angolan goalkeeper with a powerful shot.
The Super Eagles, which dominated the match in the first match and most of the second half, had to resort to defensive tactics for the remaining part of the game since the efforts made to score the second goal of the match failed to yield any dividend.
Although Victor Osimhen got his header at the back of the net in 75th minute of the game, but it was ruled offside by the VAR.
