A three-storey building belonging to Saints Academy collapsed in Jos, the Plateau State capital, with 17 persons confirmed dead and more than 120 others trapped in the rubbles.
The tragedy occurred at about 10:30 in the morning while the students were sitting for their examinations.
The latest report by Punch newspaper said that the Plateau State Government has expressed sadness over a school building which collapsed in Jos, the state capital, on Friday.
17 persons have been confirmed dead and more than 120 persons trapped at the Saint Academy building located in the Busa Buji community.
The state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Musa Ashoms, disclosed in a statement on Friday that 120 persons were trapped under the rubbles while giving an update on the incident.
The statement read, “The Plateau State Government has expressed deep sadness over the tragic incident at Saint Academy Jos, where a building collapsed resulting in casualties and injured students and teachers still being evacuated to different hospitals within Jos.”
