Grappling with insecurity for nearly a decade, Burkina Faso authorities have bolstered protective measures ahead of the year-end festivities.
Minister of Security Mahamadou Sana announced the reinforcement of security protocols during this festive season, noting that year-end celebrations are typically periods prone to terrorist activities, largely due to a general lapse in vigilance.
“The security arrangements have been enhanced, and the defense and security forces are prepared to respond to any eventuality,” Commissioner Sana assured the public.
Nevertheless, he urged heightened vigilance, particularly during the period from December 20, 2024, to January 15, 2025.
Minister Sana also called on citizens to cooperate with security forces by reporting any “suspicious activities, behaviours, packages, cargo, or vehicles” via the toll-free numbers 1010, 16, 17, and 199.
