APA-Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) Philippe Nion audited the Parliament and demanded an audit of the
army, to no avail.
The State Comptroller General, Philippe Nion will leave, as of next week, the head of the Superior Authority for State Control and the Fight against Corruption (ASCE-LC).
He announced this Tuesday, May 2, 2023, during a ceremony dedicated to the presentation of certificates of recognition to some 60 people who conducted investigations in the context of the emblematic case known
as fuel smuggling.
The soon-to-be ex-controller general of the State intends to drop his bags at the UEMOA Court of Auditors where he will sit as an advisor.
However, Mr. Nion explained that it is the very existence of the main public anti-corruption structure that is now threatened.
According to him, the ASCE-LC is on the verge of implosion because of political maneuvering.
In early January 2023, under the leadership of Philippe Nion, the ASCE-LC demanded that former members of parliament (2015-2021) repay more than 1.5 billion CFA francs, contracted as a “vehicle loan.
Mr. Nion was appointed State Comptroller General in January 2022.
He then announced a series of audits of public institutions, including the Burkinabe army.
