An Azerbaijani delegation is on a working visit to Ouagadougou, in line with the transitional authorities’ commitment to diversify bilateral cooperation.
Led by Eltchin Amirbeyov, the Azerbaijani president’s representative for special missions, the delegation was received by Captain Ibrahim Traoré on Thursday 12 September.
According to the Faso Presidency, this visit is part of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
”It is a very appropriate moment to review our bilateral relations with a view to identifying possible ways of developing these relations, which have many assets to be exploited,” said Eltchin Amirbeyov, Azerbaijan’s presidential representative for special missions.
During the meeting, the two countries reaffirmed their desire to work together on the basis of mutual respect and safeguarding common interests.
”We discussed concrete areas in which this cooperation could be beneficial to our two peoples,” he said, citing energy, vocational training, mining and humanitarian aid, among others.
This is the first official visit by Azerbaijani authorities to Burkina since September 2022.
In early August 2024, Burkina’s new ambassador to Baku, Vinta Somé, presented his credentials to the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the new developments in the overall relations between his country and Burkina Faso and underlined the significant opportunities for expanding cooperation between the two countries in all spheres.
