The court handed down prison sentences and substantial fines to the defendants.
Amidou Tiegnan, a former account manager at the ministry, received the most severe sentence of 15 years in prison and a hefty fine. The other defendants, Petronille Tarpiga, Salifou Ouedraogo, and Philippe Bayoulou, were also sentenced to prison terms ranging from 6 to 11 years and substantial fines.
The court also ordered the confiscation of the defendants’ assets and imposed a joint and several liability for the repayment of the embezzled funds.
