The former president of the Republic of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaore, who has been living in exile in Cote d’Ivoire since his fall in 2014, has been sentenced to life in the trial of the assassination of Thomas Sankara.
The military court in Ouagadougou, in its verdict rendered this morning, also condemned to life imprisonment Presidential Guard Commander Hyacinthe Kafando and General Gilbert Diendere, one of the army leaders in the 1987 putsch.
