Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo met with Belgian Ambassador Erwin De Wandel to discuss the future of bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of respecting Burkina Faso’s national sovereignty.
The meeting reviewed the current state of cooperation between the two countries, including a recently signed four-year program worth over 22 billion CFA francs.
Prime Minister Ouedraogo outlined Burkina Faso’s new diplomatic vision, emphasizing the need for all partners to align their cooperation efforts with the country’s development priorities.
While acknowledging the achievements of cultural cooperation with Belgium, the Prime Minister expressed a desire to “open a new page” in bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of endogenous development.
Ambassador De Wandel expressed his receptiveness to the Prime Minister’s vision and pledged to explore avenues for strengthening the partnership while taking into account Burkina Faso’s aspirations.
Belgian cooperation, which operates through the Enabel agency in several regions of the country, will continue its activities in line with the priorities defined by the Burkinabe government.
