A soldier was killed in an ambush in the Sahel region of northern Burkina Faso by armed individuals killed, military sources told APA on Friday adding that in retaliation the Army “neutralized” five attackers.
“The reaction of the elements has made it possible to neutralize five (05) terrorists and recover weapons and a large batch of equipment,” according to a statement from the Directorate of Communication and Public Relations of the Army received this Friday at APA.
However, two soldiers were wounded, the statement added, noting that the ambush occurred on Thursday in the village of Diomsogui in Kelbo department, Soum province in the Sahel region.
For more than three years, Burkina Faso has been facing recurrent terrorist attacks, killing both defence and security forces and civilians.
