The event, taking place from October 8 to 11, aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister Kyélem de Tambèla emphasized the importance of these ties, especially in the current complex global context. He stated that Burkina Faso and Russia are committed to developing “fruitful and lasting relations based on trust, mutual cooperation, and respect.”
During his visit, the Prime Minister met with economic partners to discuss development projects in Burkina Faso and encouraged increased investment and trade between the two countries. He also expressed Burkina Faso’s interest in joining the BRICS economic community.
In addition to economic matters, Prime Minister Kyélem de Tambèla met with Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov. The Russian minister viewed this meeting as a significant step forward in the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
Since Captain Ibrahim Traore took power in September 2022, relations between Burkina Faso and Russia have grown stronger, while ties with certain Western countries, particularly France, have weakened.
