This is the second time in three months that Captain Ibrahim Traore has changed ministers since his coming to power.
Issouf Sirima was removed from the transitional government just three months after his appointment.
He was replaced by Boubacar Savadogo as Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, according to a decree read out on national television this Tuesday evening, January 10, 2023.
The reasons for Mr. Sirima’s ouster were not disclosed.
He had been the first member of the group to sign up to become a Volunteer for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) to encourage young people to join the army as auxiliaries in the war against jihadist groups.
The number of ministerial portfolios also increased from 23 to 24 with the creation of a new ministry in charge of animal resources.
This position is entrusted to Amadou Dicko.
A specialist in medical informatics, the veterinarian was in charge of data management and development at the Central Reference Laboratory of the National Institute of Public Health.

In November 2022, under pressure from the street, he dismissed the Ministers of Trade, Donatien Nagolo, and Urban Planning, Yacouba Die, accused of mismanagement of public funds.
