APA – Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) – The military authorities in Burkina Faso have repeatedly denounced attempts at destabilisation.
On Wednesday, the head of state promised to bring Burkina Faso’s transition to a successful conclusion, a day after demonstrations of support following rumours of a coup attempt against the regime.
“I assure you of my determination to bring the transition to a successful conclusion, despite the adversities and the various maneuvers aimed at halting our inexorable march towards assumed sovereignty,” Captain Ibrahim Traoré said on social media platform X.
He declared that his conviction “is forged with each step taken in the reconquest” of national territory.
Last week, the government announced that nearly 200,000 people displaced by the terror attacks had been able to return to their places of origin following operations to secure the country.
“Together, we are committed to the liberation of our country,” Captain Traoré affirmed.
“I thank all the Burkinabé who are constantly watching over their fellow citizens, a guarantee of collective success,” he added.
Several demonstrators entered the United Nations roundabout shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday, following rumours of an attempted coup against Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
Reports of a destabilisation attempt are regularly circulated by the military authorities and their supporters.
On September 8, the military prosecutor announced that soldiers had been arrested for attempting to destabilise the current regime.
At the end of August, the Minister of Security warned of the presence of “foreigners” in Burkina Faso with the aim of “destabilising the current transition and sowing chaos” with “national accomplices.”
