More than 150 militants from jihadist groups have been neutralized in recent days in the North Central and East Central regions, the Burkina Information Agency (AIB) and public television reported Tuesday evening, citing security sources.
The military operations took place on Monday during the day. In the north-central region, state television said, about 100 suspected jihadists from the north took shelter under “a large tree” in the Minama area, between Bourzanga and Kongoussi, while it was raining.
The Agence d’information du Burkina (AIB), which confirmed this information, added that the attackers were all “struck by the air vector with all their equipment.”
Two other army strikes targeted positions of jihadist groups in the Center-East region. National television reported that a group of armed men who hijacked two tankers to supply their base in the Kankanmogre
forest “were dealt with. No figures were available.”
Also in this region, AIB reported that some 50 terrorists, who probably came to steal cattle, were neutralized by air vectors in the Yaktibo area.
Several anti-jihadist operations are underway in several areas in this country plagued by jihadist groups’ violence since 2015.
