At least five people died and two others were injured in a plane crash in the east of the country on Wednesday, the government said in a statement.
The PA32 aircraft crashed on take-off from the Diapaga aerodrome while on a flight from Diapaga to Fada Ngourma with seven (07) people on board, including the crew, explained Transport Minister Roland Somda.
“Unfortunately, five people lost their lives and two others were injured, according to a provisional report. The survivors have been evacuated to the Diapaga Medical Centre with Surgical Unit (CMA) for
treatment,” the minister added.
Investigations are underway to determine the causes of this tragic accident, and a crisis unit has been set up for the occasion, the government announced.
Burkina Faso’s News Agency understands that the plane missed its take-off and ended its flight in a tree.
Minister Somda states that the aircraft belongs to the private airline Lead’Air.
It launched its activities at the beginning of December 2023 and serves areas that are inaccessible by road because of the security situation, in particular the towns of Dori, Fada and Diapaga.
