APA-Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) Appolinaire Joachimson Kyelem de Tambela arrived in Bamako on Wednesday November 22, where he is taking part in the Mali International Handicraft Fair.
The head of Burkina Faso’s government pleaded on Wednesday in the Malian capital Bamako for the creation of a federation between Burkina, Mali and Niger, reports the communication service of the Malian Prime Minister’s Office.
“I call for courage, we must have the courage to take the step of creating a federation between the states of the Liptako Gourma charter, which make up the alliance of Sahel states,” says Mr. Appolinaire Kyelem de Tambela.
He was speaking on his arrival in Bamako, where he is due to take part in the opening ceremony of the 4th edition of the ‘Salon international de l’Artisanat du Mali’ (SIAMA), to be held from November 22 to 24, 2023.
The Prime Minister castigated colonial domination and called on the peoples of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger to wake up.
“The fate of peoples without courage is to be dominated and exploited. We have lived through it: our ancestors were treated as slaves, our parents were colonized, our elders were neo-colonized. (…) It is now up to us to become aware of this, to have the courage to go further…,” insisted the head of Burkina Faso’s transitional government.
According to the Prime Minister of Burkina, the three states have “no right to make mistakes.” « Otherwise, future generations will not forgive us.…,” he insisted.
Last February, Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister had already proposed the creation of a “federation” between his country and Mali, both of which face jihadist violence and are ruled by military forces.
