The new strongman of Ouagadougou, on Wednesday evening, announced the lifting of the curfew introduced after the seizure of power.
In force since January 24 and the fall of former President Roch Marc Christian Kabore, the nationwide curfew from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. has been lifted, although some restrictions remain in place, according to a statement by the head of state, Lieutenant Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo, read on public television. “The president of the Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration, President of Faso, Head of State, informs national public opinion of the total lifting of the curfew as of today, February 2, 2022” the statement said.
Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, who now leads Burkina Faso, has also made sweeping changes in the military hierarchy.
