APA – Kigali (Rwanda) – APR FC of Rwanda on Saturday could not build on their quick start against Somalia’s Gaadiidka FC , settling for a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the African Champions League at Kigali Pelé Stadium.
Home side APR had the first chance to open the scoring in the 11th minute but Ally Kwitonda’s strike went off target.
Nicholas Kagaba scored after just 32 minutes for Gaadiidka.
In the second half, the Rwandab military side striker Omborenga Fitina went on an overlapping run before crossing the ball to Mbaoma who fired home inside the penalty box to make it 1-1.
Gaadiidka will use Kigali Pelé Stadium as their home ground when the teams face off in the second leg on Thursday, August 24th.
The winner will face Egyptian side Pyramids in the next round.
