Until his appointment, Ngute was a minister at the presidency, and he takes over from Philemon Yang who nearly ten years was Cameroon PM.
Age 65, the new Premier hails from the English-speaking South West region, which has seen unrest over the past two years.
A lawyer and diplomat, Ngute graduated from the former University of Yaounde in the 1970s before completing his training in Great Britain.
He is a member of the central committee of the ruling Democratic Rally of the Cameroonian People (CPDM).
