Faustin-Archange Touadéra arrived in Ouagadougou on Thursday, December 19, 2024, on a “friendship and working visit,” according to the presidency of Burkina Faso.
The President of the Central African Republic is aiming to reinforce the Ouagadougou-Bangui axis the same source announced.
He was welcomed at the airport by the caretaker leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré, with whom he held a one-on-one meeting.
During their talks, the two heads of state exchanged views on key issues of cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic, as well as on strategic matters for Africa, according to the Communication Directorate of the Koulouba Palace.
They specified that topics included security, the development of their respective countries, and the struggle of African nations for sovereignty, all aimed at promoting the well-being of their populations and the economic development of African states.
This is the first visit by the Central African President since Captain Traoré took power in Burkina Faso.
Since September 2022, Traoré has been committed to looking farther afield to establish partnerships with other countries.
