The United Kingdom has appointed career diplomat Colin Wells as new British high commission to Eswatini, replacing Simon Boyden who has been the king’s representative in the southern African country since May 2021.
Wells, who until his latest deployment was the UK’s ambassador in Mauritania since 2021, is expected to take up his post in August this year.
He joined the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in 1987 and has previously served in Azerbaijan, Cote d’Ivoire, Russia, India, Nigeria and Sudan.
