Mohamed Jouahri, Managing Director of Casablanca Events & Animation, emphasized the active participation that fueled the event’s success. “We fostered a space for dialogue and innovation, where practical and sustainable solutions to urban challenges were shared,” he stated. “This event strengthens Casablanca’s ambition to become a leader in smart cities.”
Over two days, Casablanca Smart City 2024 showcased best practices and advancements in sustainable and inclusive urban development. Participants explored cutting-edge technologies and modern approaches to urban management. Inspiring case studies and pioneering projects from international experts demonstrated how cities can achieve resilience, connectivity, and improved well-being for their citizens.
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the event highlighted solutions to pressing issues like land scarcity, water stress, energy consumption, and climate change. Discussions also addressed citizen inclusion and international cooperation, emphasizing the role of technology in reducing inequalities.
Debates covered topics such as intelligent resource management, carbon footprint reduction, and improving urban quality of life. Participants explored the potential of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and renewable energies – key factors in transforming cities into more sustainable and efficient spaces.
Casablanca Smart City 2024 attracted nearly 960 participants and over 70 international speakers, solidifying Casablanca’s position as a major player in the smart city movement. Representatives from over 15 countries, including the Netherlands, Japan, and Kenya, shared their experiences and perspectives on smart city challenges and opportunities.
