The National Elections Management Agency (ANGE) of Chad has set out the framework for organizing the legislative elections scheduled for December 29, particularly regarding the accommodation of election observers.
For the triple elections on December 29, which will signify the end of the transition period in Chad, following the presidential victory by Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno after his father’s death in April 2021, the ANGE announced on Friday, in a statement made available to APA on the issue of hosting observers during the upcoming elections.
According to Tahir Oloy Hassan, the General Rapporteur of ANGE, the costs for accommodating observer missions will not be covered for the legislative, provincial, and communal elections on December 29.
The December 29 legislative elections will mark the end of the transition, with the restoration of the National Assembly, following the presidential election won by Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.
The Assembly was dissolved in April 2021 after the military took power following the death of President Idriss Déby Itno.
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Council has ruled on the final appeals from candidates.
