APA – N’Djamena (Chad) – He is accused of using a false order to obtain the rank of brigadier general.
Colonel Timan Yaya Seid is no longer an officer cadet in the Chadian army. He has been dismissed from the corps by order of the Minister of Defence.
The case dates back to 30 June. A video of the young 26-year-old colonel receiving the insignia of brigadier general from the private chief of staff of the interim president was posted on social media. To convince the president’s chief of staff, Timan Yaya Seid presented him with a document from the supreme commander of the armed forces appointing him brigadier general. This appointment caused a wave of outrage on the Internet.
Military intelligence immediately took an interest in the case. The young officer was arrested. Investigations revealed that the decree brandished by the accused was a “forged document”. The punishment meted out by the hierarchy was severe. The accused, who was still an officer cadet, was removed from the list of officer cadets, his enlistment in the Defence and Security Forces was cancelled and his identification number was deleted from the army database.
