The Constitutional Council has proclaimed the final results of the legislative elections held on December 29, 2024, on January 21, 2025, rejecting the majority of requests made by candidates.
During the formal hearing, Jean-Bernard Padare, President of the Constitutional Council, dismissed most of the appeals submitted by the candidates.
The results confirmed by the Council largely align with the provisional results released by the Electoral Agency on January 12, except for one adjustment in the Lac Lere district, where the seat initially awarded to PRET candidate Bebnone Bongoro Theophile was reallocated to a different competitor.
According to the results announced by the Constitutional Council, the ruling party, MPS, leads with 124 deputies, while RNDT and UNDR maintain their positions as the second and third political forces within the National Assembly.
The incoming National Assembly, to be installed in March, will feature 64 women among its 188 deputies, representing 34 percent, a notable increase from the 15 percent recorded in 2011. This ratio exceeds the 30 percent quota established by the government for female representation. Minister for Women, Amina Priscille Longoh, praised this achievement, attributing it to “Head of State Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno’s commitment to prioritizing the promotion of women.”
