In an official press release dated December 2, 2024, Chad’s Ministry of Education and Civic Promotion took several major initiatives aimed at strengthening and promoting the teaching profession.
Among these measures are the annual awarding of excellence awards to reward the best teachers in all provinces of the country occupies a central place.
This initiative is part of a broader program aimed at improving the working conditions of teachers, through the revision of Decree No. 477 relating to the special status of teachers and the establishment of continuing training on subjects such as information and communication technologies (ICT), leadership and entrepreneurship.
The ministry has also taken measures to ensure better governance of educational structures by awarding excellence awards to the best managers.
This initiative aims to promote efficiency and transparency in the management of educational institutions.
Despite these advances, the ministry expressed its dissatisfaction with attempts to disrupt educational activities by malicious individuals.
It recalled that only official unions are authorised to speak on behalf of teachers and warned against any attempt at manipulation.
Finally, the ministry assured Chadians that the General Inspectorate would be responsible for monitoring missions to ensure the smooth running of educational activities and take appropriate measures if necessary.
