APA – N’Djamena (Chad) – If the presidential vote takes place, the runoff election will be held on 22 June in the absence of a clear winner.
On Tuesday 27th February, the National Electoral Management Agency (ANGE), the body in charge of organising the elections that should lead to a return to constitutional order in Chad, presented the timetable for the various stages leading up to the vote for a new president.
According to ANGE, the period for the submission of candidacies for the presidential elections is set between 6 and 15 March 2024. The publication of the lists of successful candidates by the constitutional court is scheduled for 24 March 2024.
The campaign for the first round will run from 14 April to 4 May 2024.
The first round of the presidential election will be held on 6 May 2024.
Provisional results of the first round are expected to be announced on 21 May 2024.
The constitutional court will announce the final results of the first round on 5 June 2024.
In the event of a runoff, the campaign period will run from 6 to 20 June 2024, while the vote itself will take place on 22 June 2024.
The provisional results of the second round must be announced on 7 July 2024, before the constitutional court upholds or dispels them definitively on 20 July 2024.
