A national tribute will be paid to the late president on 23 April at the Nation Square in N’Djamena.
The ceremony will start at 9 a.m., the Presidency said in a statement.
It will be marked by “military honours, a wreath laying, a funeral oration read by the vice-president of the Transitional Military Council and a laying of the attributes of the marshal on the late president’s casket.
Afterwards, the body will be handed over to the grieving family. The burial is planned at the cemetery of Amdjarass (East), in the strictest family privacy. The protocol service of the Chadian presidency has nevertheless announced the participation of foreign heads of state.
At present, the Military Council of the Transition (CMT) has installed Mahamat Idriss Déby, son of the late president, as head of Chad, which government and National Assembly have been dissolved.
