According to the country’s authorities, the acquisition of these new aircraft is part of the army’s modernization program.
New high-tech equipment and materials acquired by the Chadian government for the air force were handed over on Monday.
These include three Turkish-made ground attack aircraft and an ANKA drone from the highly reputed TUSAS Company. The aircraft will be equipped with laser-guided air-to-ground missiles supplied by Roketsan. Optronic observation systems have also been acquired.
The equipment was presented to the President of the Transition and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, at the Adji Kossei base.
According to the authorities, the acquisition of this new equipment is part of the army’s modernization program. These aircraft will enable the air force to be at the cutting edge of modern technology.
The Chadian army’s equipment is largely French and Russian. It consists mainly of tanks, armored vehicles, helicopters and Sukhoi attack aircraft. This is the first time Chad has acquired equipment of this kind.
