The Chadian army announced on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the end of Operation Haskanite, launched last November against Boko Haram and that the toll is nearly 300 terrorists neutralized and 27 dead on the side of the Chadian forces.
Operation Haskanite was launched on November 7, 2024 in response to a Boko Haram attack on the Island of Barkaram, said the army spokesman General Chanane Issaka Achek, during a press briefing in Ndjamena on
Tuesday, February 18.
This land and air offensive, directly supervised by Head of State Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, made it possible to “neutralize 297 terrorists” and injure 163 others.
Chadian forces also seized a significant military arsenal, including 112 individual weapons and five collective weapons.
Among the losses in the terrorist ranks are several operational leaders, including Ganai Djougoun, responsible for a major attack in 2022.
On the Chadian side, the toll stands at 24 soldiers and 3 civilians killed, as well as 37 soldiers and 4 civilians injured.
According to the spokesperson, “the majority of the wounded have already recovered their health.”
At the end of the operation, the general staff announced a reinforcement of the security system in the region, ensuring that today “no sanctuary” of Boko Haram remains on Chadian territory.
