Ahmat Ali Adji, a journalist working for the National Office of Audiovisual Media (ONAMA) and contributing to the online publication Toumai Web Media, has been detained by the Coordination of the Judicial Police.
Adji was summoned by the Judicial Police on March 27th and subjected to four hours of questioning before being taken into custody. Toumai Web Media’s editorial staff has stated that the reasons for his arrest remain unclear.
However, sources close to the investigation suggest that Adji’s detention is connected to an intelligence case involving a foreign power, which also led to the arrest and detention of three other journalists on March 10th. They were charged and remanded in custody by the Ndjamena High Court public prosecutor.
