APA – N’Djamena (Chad) Footage purporting to show sexual intimacy involving two members of the government was posted on social media.
The scandal has finally caught up with Haliki Choua Mahamat, minister and secretary general of the government, and General Daoud Yaya Brahim, minister of defence, who have since handed in their resignation from the Chadian government on October 18.
“After much reflection, I have decided to tender my resignation from the government. And I am pleased to announce that the Prime Minister has accepted it,” Mahamat, wrote on Facebook.
On October 15 and 16, intimate videos of these two ministers were leaked on social media, causing a real scandal for the transitional government headed by Saleh Kebzabo.
This is the first time in Chad’s political history that ministers involved in a sex scandal have left the government.
Their resignation means that the government of national unity, which was formed on October 14, 2022, will have to be reshuffled.
This will have to wait for the return of junta leader Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, who is on a working visit to Paris, France.
Haliki Choua Mahamat has served as minister and secretary general of the government since Idriss Déby Itno took power.
General Daoud Yaya Brahim was appointed Minister of Defence in April 2021.
