Chadian police has on Thursday confirmed the arrest of dozen of people planning to protest against gas shortage.
The demonstrators were planning to march from the National Assembly headquarters to Gassi, a district in N’Djaména, the Chadian capital.
The failure of this demonstration is partly due to the dissensions noted among its initiators. Indeed, where some of them called for the march to be maintained, others were in favour of its cancellation.
In this regard, the president of the collective action against the cost of living, Ndingamnyal Versinis, after a brief arrest at the police, issued a statement in which he stated that the government “pleaded for the postponement of the demonstration.”
Visibly committed to this eventuality, Versinis invited demonstrators to visit the refinery where technicians are working to produce large quantities of gas.
