APA-Ndjamena (Chad) Although no reason was given, several sources referred to his state of health.
Absent from the country for almost two months, Minister of State, Secretary General of the Presidency Gali Ngothe Gatta was replaced on the evening of December 28, 2023.
His successor is none other than his former companion in the opposition and current Minister of Justice, Mahamat Ahmad Alhabo.
The two men, both opponents of Idriss Deby Itno, agreed to join the transition process led by his son Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno ypon the death of his father.
Mahamat Ahmad Alhabo was made Minister of Justice as soon as the first transitional government headed by Pahimi Padacke Albert was set up. He remained in the second government led by Saleh Kebzabo. His departure from the government paves the way for a probable reshuffle in the coming days.
Gali Ngothe Gatta owes his appointment as Minister of State, Secretary General of the Presidency to his work as President of the Presidium of the 2022 Inclusive and Sovereign National Dialogue.
During his time at the General Secretariat of the Presidency, he led talks between Cameroon and Chad on the Savannah Energy crisis. He also headed the Energy Council charged with resolving the problem of access to electricity in Ndjamena.
Absent from the country for months, Gali Ngothe Gatta made a public appearance on the morning of December 27, when he presided over the stone-laying ceremony for the Palais de Justice (Courthouse) in Ndjamena.
According to several sources, his absence may be justified by his health condition.
