Jingye, a leading steel producer with a global presence, will supply high-quality steel products for the ambitious project. This decision reflects the company’s commitment to supporting major infrastructure initiatives and leveraging its expertise and capabilities, including those of its British subsidiary, Jingye British Steel.
The Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, estimated to cost $26 billion, aims to transform the region’s energy landscape by improving access to natural gas for countries along the Atlantic coast while strengthening energy connections with Europe. The project has garnered support from international financial institutions such as the Islamic Development Bank and the OPEC Fund.
Tenders for the Moroccan sections of the pipeline are scheduled for 2025. The initial phase, focusing on Morocco, Mauritania, and Senegal, is expected to drive significant economic growth and attract investment in these countries.
Jingye Group, with an annual steel production capacity of 15 million tonnes and a global reach spanning over 80 countries, is well-positioned to contribute significantly to the project’s success. The company’s involvement highlights the growing influence of Chinese companies in major infrastructure projects worldwide.
