Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos failed to qualify for the finals of the U-17 Women’s World Cup in Goa, India.
The Flamingos had in the first semi-finals played on Wednesday lost 5-6 on penalties to Colombia, after full-time ended goalless.
The Nigerian women failed to reenact their form, which enabled them to defeat the USA team. The Flamingos had beaten the USA team 6-5 on penalties in the quarter final match after the two teams played 1-1 at regulation time.
The Nigerian women failed to score two of their penalty shootout, while Colombia failed to convert only one.
The Flamingos will take on Germany for the third place match, while Colombia and Spain will play in the finals on Sunday.
In the second semi-final match played on Wednesday, the Spanish team defeated their German counterparts 1-0 to qualify for the finals. The only goal of the match came in the 90th minute of the match.
