Congo’s Constitutional Court has rejected the opposition’s appeal challenging last month’s presidential election outcome, validated the re-election of Denis Sassou Nguesso.
The “Emperor” will extend his reign over Congo.
Denis Sassou Nguesso who, bagged 88.40 percent of validly cast votes, is declared elected,” the president of the Constitutional Court, Auguste Iloki announced on Tuesday, April 6.
In addition, the court said it had nevertheless “made the necessary rectifications and adjustments” to the results of the March 21 presidential election.
The candidate of the Congolese Labour Party (PCT), in power for 36 years, has settled for a fourth term.
He could even rule the central African country until 2031 thanks to a constitutional amendment made in 2015.
