The new machines, consisting of 10 tractors and 10 trailers, cost more than 779 million CFA francs.
These YT193 and RT223 tractors, the latest generation, equipped with mobile terminals and connected to the operating system Navis 4, will increase the efficiency of operations at the container park and strengthen the productivity of the terminal.
The acquisition of this new equipment is in line with the investment plan put in place by Congo Terminal, which has so far invested more than 250 billion CFA francs (400 million euros) to modernize the container terminal both in terms of infrastructure and equipment.
“The investments made at the Port of Pointe-Noire have enabled us to increase our volumes and improve our rates. We continue to invest in the acquisition of new equipment to keep up with the growing volumes we are now facing,” the General Manager of Congo Terminal, Anthony Samzun explained.
Congo Terminal also expects the delivery of two new RTG yard gantries by the end of the first half of the year and two STS quay gantries in the course of 2023. This is the sixth order for rolling stock since the concession began in 2009.
