The Congolese striker of Moroccan club side Ittihad of Tangier, Mukoko Batezadio was arrested last Sunday at Mohammed V airport, where he was trying to smuggle his daughter out of the kingdom to Rome, Italy.
According to the Moroccan press, the player and his daughter presented themselves at customs with two plane tickets to the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kinshasa.
However, once customs cleared them, he reportedly left his daughter with another person who was about to board a flight to Italy.
According to the same source, he booked her a ticket to Rome with forged travel documents.
The player left the boarding lounge, claiming that he had decided to cancel his trip.
His attitude raised suspicion among the airport police officers who decided to transfer him to the Casablanca police prefecture.
The footballer is currently in Oukacha prison.
He will be brought before the Casablanca Court of First Instance on Friday.
As a reminder, Batezadio joined the Detroit club last January from the AS Vita Club.
He signed a two and a half year contract for 3.8 million DH.
