This annual meeting aims to exchange on the challenges of security in Africa.
The meeting is organized by the U.S. Army for African armies to think about solutions to security challenges on the continent. The theme of this edition is: “Meeting security challenges through civil-military partnerships.”
It comes after the last session held at Fort Benning in the USA in March 2022 and nine editions on African soil. It will be held from May 8 to 12, 2023 in Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d’Ivoire.
This Summit should allow the development of complementary and collaborative solutions to the challenges of security on the continent. It also aims to connect different networks of partners and regional partnerships across Africa
In addition, it aims to empower active and capable regional organizations to build cooperative and multinational partnerships across Africa in defense and security.
According to the organizers, 339 participants are expected to attend, including the heads of 35 African armies, delegations from five European countries and two countries from the American continent, as well as experts on defense and security issues.
The Summit is co-organized by the Army of Côe d’Ivoire and SETAF (Southern European Task Force for Africa). It will include brainstorming sessions, a study visit to the International Academy for Combating Terrorism in Jacqueville and a cultural day in Grand-Bassam.
